CIO Asia Magazine Wins Inaugural MPAS Award
Singapore (PRWEB) April 1, 2009 -- Enterprise IT magazine CIO Asia - published by Fairfax Business Media Asia (FBM Asia) - has won an inaugural award from the Magazine Publishers' Association of Singapore (MPAS).
CIO Asia, which circulates to senior business executives in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and across Asia Pacific, won the Best Cover/Feature Story (Trade Magazine) at the inaugural MPAS-Pressmart Awards Nite 2009 in Singapore on Tuesday, 24 March 2009.
The event was held at held at NUSS Guild House at Suntec City and attended by publishers and senior executives from media, press, advertising and PR agencies.
The prestigious awards, launched on 15 December 2008, attracted 150 entries from various trade, consumer and contract publications.
The winning CIO Asia magazine cover story was 'The Femme Factor: Asia's Enterprise IT Bucks the Trend' was published in September 2008. FBM Asia Online Editor Zafar Anjum wrote the article (http://mis-asia.com/magazines/cio_asia/september-2008/some-leading-i.t.-ladies) and the cover was designed by FBM designer Neha Sane.
The cover story synopsis was: 'Tradition would have it that information technology is a male-dominated industry and profession, particularly in the patriarchal society of some Asian countries. But examining the latest research provides a different story'.
The MPAS judging panel included publishers from the Asia Pacific council of the global publishing association International Federation of the Periodical Press (FIPP) (http://www.fipp.com), including experts from Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and the Philippines.
FBM Asia Managing Editor, and CIO Asia Editor, Ross O. Storey said that the MPAS award was testimony to the professionalism and skill of FBM staff.
"This is clear confirmation that our hard work and creativity is recognised and respected by our peers across the region," said Storey. "This is an accomplishment for which we are truly proud and highlights just one aspect of our integrated media model, which also includes event management, digital publishing and customised research.
"The role of women in IT is not a subject that receives much publicity and, judging on the feedback from this article, it is an issue that remains of interest, particularly considering that the Asia Pacific region appears to be leading other parts of the world."
